I went along to the Woolfish Festival yesterday in St. Abbs. I took Orla along with me and we went for a walk down into the village and harbour. (The main purpose being an ice-cream for Orla ;-) )
I adore the sea and being in St. Abbs reminded me of how much I miss it. West Lothian just doesn't have any! Oh well.
We started off looking at the memorial to the fishermen who drowned in the East Coast Fishing Disaster of 1881.

It's in a lovely setting, high above the harbour with stunning views along the clifftops.

Then we headed down the newly built steps down to the harbour. We had fun while we were sitting looking around, enjoying the sun. Orla decided to draw something but wasn't sure what. So I suggested this hut:

She wasn't so sure. So I drew the outline and she drew on the door and windows. Interestingly she drew the windows and door back to front - so door handle on the opposite side and the windows the wrong way round. Is that the way a four-year-old brain's work?

It was such a beautiful way - the harbour was stunning and the sea blue. I loved this boat:

(Did you see the swan swimming in the water - it was having a snooze and bobbing about on the water.) And the lifeboat station:

After an ice-cream we climbed back up the steps to the Village Hall and we sat and chatted with friends. I knitted and Orla sat on the floor doodling:

Look - she was writing her own song, here's the music:

All in all a lovely day out.
